ROAD RUNNER

$40,000

Vehicle Highlights

This 1970 Plymouth Satellite two-door hardtop was acquired out of Alabama by the seller in 2009, and it was subsequently fitted with a rebuilt 440ci V8, which is linked to a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 limited-slip rear end. The car has been modified in the style of a Plymouth Road Runner, with a hood, graphics, and other elements from that model. The vehicle has been repainted in green and has a green vinyl roof over multi-color vinyl upholstery on bench seats. The engine has been modified with Edelbrock cylinder heads, intake manifold, and an 800-cfm four-barrel carburetor as well as KB Performance pistons, MSD ignition components, an aluminum radiator, long-tube headers, and a dual exhaust system. Other features include Magnum 500–style 15″ wheels, front disc brakes, power steering, a pistol-grip shifter, a tachometer, and an aftermarket radio.

Finished from the factory in Lime Green Metallic (FF4), the car was repainted under previous ownership and features a green vinyl roof. A Road Runner–style bulged hood with black accents and 440-badging has been installed, and Road Runner graphics have been added at the rear of the vehicle and along its sides. Other exterior equipment includes a black tail panel, dual exhaust outlets, simulated side scoops, dual side mirrors, a bright grille, and chrome bumpers. The seller notes missing trim around the windshield, bubbling paint, and touch-up work.

The 440ci V8 was bored up to .060″ over and rebuilt in August 2010 by Weber Power Products of North Ridgeville, Ohio, before being installed in this car. Modifications include:

  • KB Performance hypereutectic pistons
  • Edelbrock Performer RPM 60929 aluminum cylinder heads
  • Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold
  • Edelbrock AVS 800-cfm four-barrel carburetor
  • Edelbrock mesh air cleaner
  • Edelbrock Performer RPM fuel pump
  • Hydraulic roller camshaft
  • Harland Sharp roller rocker arms
  • Crower chromoly pushrods
  • Mopar Performance finned valve covers
  • MSD Digital 6A ignition controller
  • MSD distributor
  • Summit aluminum radiator
  • Replacement fuel tank
  • Heat-wrapped long-tube exhaust headers
  • Dual exhaust system

A tune up was performed in early 2025, per the seller. The car’s chassis number indicates that it was originally powered by a 318ci V8.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Dana 60 limited-slip rear end with 3.91:1 gears. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.

Magnum 500–style 15″ wheels with polished lips are mounted with 235/70 front and 275/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. The suspension was refurbished around 2012. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the steering also is power assisted.

The bench seating surfaces are trimmed in vinyl with multiple shades of green upholstery separated by white sections. Appointments include green headrests, a pistol-grip shifter, front and rear seatbelts, and an aftermarket AM/FM radio with an auxiliary input. The air conditioning and heater components have been disconnected, the radio works intermittently, the front-seat adjuster mechanism is broken, and there is a hole in the carpeting near the shifter base. The seller also notes that rust is visible in the trunk compartment, and a leak is evident at the passenger side of the firewall.
